Work Experience Placements

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust offers work experience placements to people over the age of 16. There are very limited placements due to high demand and applicants are advised to submit their forms early to avoid disappointment. We currently only offer one week placements and they are offered on a first come first serve basis.

Applications can only be made by completing the form, saving a copy onto your computer. Please note it is up to the individual to secure a work experience placement using the flowchart process below.

Employability Scheme

What is NHS Employability Programme?
It is partnership between Leeds Teaching Hospitals and Leeds City Council Jobs & Skills that supports local unemployed people into entry level jobs within NHS.

How is support offered?
The project offers pre-employment training, NHS placement and support with job search for entry level jobs. Training lasts between 6–8 weeks, open days are held throughout the year.

Skill areas offered at present:

  • Healthcare Support Workers
  • Administration/clerical roles
  • Customised placements can be arranged

How will I benefit from NHS Employability?
By attending our informal open days you will be able to make an informed decision if the training is for you.

You will receive training in preparation for your chosen skill area along with real work experience through placements within the hospitals.

If returning to work after a long period of time, the training will give you access to references. Also receive support with job search throughout your training and placement.
